For players ready to push themselves, build lifelong friendships, and play the game they love at a higher level—Travel Soccer at Terre Haute Premier is where it all begins.
Our U11–U19 program is for athletes who want to go further: in their skills, in their confidence, and in their leadership—on and off the field. With quality coaching, elevated competition, and a team-focused environment, players not only grow their abilities, they grow as people.
✔ Two-Three Practices Per Week with experienced coaches focused on individual development and team tactics.
✔ Indiana Soccer League (ISL) Play – Competitive games against other mid to high level clubs in Indiana. Other leagues placements are available based on team needs.
✔ 1-3 Tournaments Per Season, providing higher-level play and team bonding experiences.
✔ Optional Travel Opportunities, including regional showcases and winter play.
✔ Professional Curriculum, built on U.S. Soccer's 6 tasks of a player model (see full curriculum below).
✔ Season Commitment: Fall & Spring (Winter training options available).
✔ Playing time is earned based on effort, attendance, and commitment—but development for every child always remains the main goal.
Players Learn to:
We want our sidelines to be a place of support and encouragement, not sideline coaching. Instead of yelling instructions, we ask parents to cheer and let the kids play their game! This helps them develop confidence, trust their instincts, and grow as independent players.
Our goal is to develop well-rounded players who love the game, play with confidence, and continue growing season after season.
Our volunteer coaching staff is built on experience, education, and a heart for youth development. Each coach is selected for their ability to teach the game, connect with players, and uphold the values of Terre Haute Premier.
Many pursue U.S. Soccer licensing and continue ongoing development to stay current with national standards to better support the players they work with.
Our Director of Coaching & Player Development also works closely with local organizations to bring in guest training and coaching opportunities as available to help expose kids, coaches, and parents to different coaching styles and development opportunities.
At Terre Haute Premier, travel practices are designed to be intentional, challenging, and development-focused—without the pressure or burnout. We want players to leave each session feeling more confident, more connected to their teammates, and more in love with the game.
While each coach will bring their own coaching philosophies and experience to their players, our travel practices typically follow a structured flow based on our professional curriculum and U.S. Soccer’s Player Development Model. Here's what players can expect:
✔ Skill-Based Warm-Ups – Movement games, technical touches, and small sided games to prepare the mind and body.
✔ Game-Based Learning – Small-sided games create repetition and help players apply what they’re learning in real-time.
✔ Individual & Small Group Drills – Focus on footwork, first touch, passing, and decision-making.
✔ Tactical Awareness – Players begin to learn shape, spacing, and how to solve problems on the field.
✔ Positive, Guided Coaching – Coaches ask questions, encourage creative thinking, and provide feedback to help players grow. They allow the game to be the teacher as much as possible and guide the environment to allow for that.
❌ No laps. No lines. No lectures. ❌
Our coaches are player focused, with an emphasis on whole athlete development.
For many of our players, tournament weekends are the highlight of the season—and it's easy to see why. These events combine everything they love about soccer: fast-paced games, time with teammates, and memories that last well beyond the final whistle.
Here’s what tournament weekends bring to the field—and beyond:
Multiple Games Over 2–3 Days: Players get to put their skills to the test in several matches, experiencing real momentum, growth, and excitement across a full weekend of play.
Team Bonding & Camaraderie: Whether it’s a group dinner at the hotel, cheering from the sidelines, or hanging out between games, tournament weekends are where friendships are deepened and team spirit soars.
Showcase Opportunities (U15+): As players move into the older age groups, select tournaments offer exposure to college coaches and competitive scouting opportunities, giving them a platform to be seen—if that's part of their goals.
In the fall, our teams travel to Indianapolis for a fun, action-packed tournament weekend. Families can choose to stay overnight or make the easy drive back and forth.
✔ An easy drive—no overnight stay required (unless you want to)!
✔ More teams, more variety, more competitive fun!
✔ A chance for team dinners & fun bonding experiences outside of the games.
✔ Players love the tournament atmosphere—playing multiple games in a weekend!
These tournaments are not just about soccer—they’re about creating memories that last a lifetime. Players cheer each other on, celebrate goals, support their teammates, and learn valuable lessons about teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance.

✔ Home-field advantage—no extra travel required!
✔ Games all weekend long with tons of action!
✔ Food trucks, team bonding, and lots of play time!
✔ A great chance to cheer on our other age groups while at home!
These tournaments are not just about soccer—they’re about creating memories that last a lifetime. Players cheer each other on, celebrate goals, support their teammates, and learn valuable lessons about teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance.

At VCYSA, our Travel Program is designed to offer high-quality, intentional development without taking over your family’s life. If your child is ready for more challenge, structure, and growth, travel might be the next right step.
This could be the right fit for your family if…
Travel players are ready for more—more practices, more competitive games, and more opportunities to stretch their skills.
Not just because they’re “good,” but because they’re self-motivated, eager to improve, and lit up by the game. If your child plays soccer outside of practice and games with their team (like inside your house, in the back yard with friends or family) it could be a strong sign that they desire more soccer in their life.
Often times competitive athletes play multiple sports, and recreation might not be the right environment for them even if they have never played before.
Most travel games and tournaments are within 2 hours, and potential overnights are limited to only a few times per year.
Travel teams foster responsibility, resilience, and leadership—all within a supportive, family-focused club culture.
We invite you to fill out the interest form and our team will connect you with a coach so you can attend a practice to see if Travel Soccer feels like the right next step for your player—and your family.

Yes, we hold tryouts—but they’re not about cutting kids.
Tryouts are used to help place players in the right environment for their growth, both physically and emotionally. We want to ensure every child who wants to play has the opportunity to do so in a setting that will help them build confidence, improve their skills, and continue loving the game.
Sometimes this means a player may be placed on a team with a different age group, or “play up” based on ability, maturity, or numbers—but always in a way that is safe and aligned with US Soccer’s rules and development guidelines.
We also consider practical factors like coaching assignments (some of our coaches are also high school coaches) to ensure team formation complies with all state and high school athletic regulations.
✅ We’re not looking for superstars—we’re looking for coachable players who are passionate about soccer and excited to grow.
✅ Every decision is made with the development, safety, and long-term success of the player in mind—on and off the field.
If your player is eager to take the next step, we’d love to see them at tryouts and help find the best fit for their soccer journey.
Yes, we hold tryouts, but they aren’t about cutting kids!
Tryouts help us place players where they’ll grow best.
We aren’t looking for superstars—we’re looking for kids who LOVE to play and want to learn!
Our academy program does not have A or B teams. While our exact team placements depend on number of kids in each age of the age groups and what is best for the players we have in font of us teams typically train together and complete with kids in their own age group U9/U10.
Again, this depends on our numbers.
Recreational Soccer is a great option for families looking for a low-pressure, community-centered program. Players practice once a week and play local, in-house games focused on fun, teamwork, and basic skill development.
Travel Soccer is for players who are ready for more—more touches on the ball, more coaching, more competition, and more growth. These teams practice twice a week, compete in the Indiana Soccer League (ISL) against teams across the state, and participate in seasonal tournaments.
The biggest difference? Time on the ball and intensity of play. Travel players get more reps, more coaching, and more opportunities to challenge themselves in game situations.
Rec is perfect for players who enjoy the game and want to stay active.
Travel is ideal for players who LOVE soccer and are ready for a challenge.
Still unsure? We invite you to come to a practice and see the difference for yourself!
We’re looking for commitment and love of the game—not perfection. Tryouts are open to all and if you child wants to tryout we highly recommend it. Our evaluation team will be honest in their evaluations and put their development and happiness at the forefront of every placement decision.
That’s okay! Travel isn’t just for future college athletes. It’s for kids who love to play and want to grow through the game.
Most league games are within 1.5 to 2 hours. Tournaments may involve optional overnights, but some families choose to drive back and forth.
Yes! Communication with your coaches is key. While we expect commitment to soccer during season, we support multi-sport athletes.
